The neighborhood Block Party held on Saturday, September 6 was a great success. The party started a little slowly, due to a threat of rain, but the rain held off, the party got rolling, and it continued late into the evening. The USC Volunteer Fire Dept provided water fun for the young at heart (see photos below). Children's entertainment included a bike parade and contest, face painting and tattoos, a moon bounce, and a movie at dusk (thanks to Kevin Hughes for music and outdoor movie wizardry). New this year was a tiki bar, staffed by the younger members of the neighborhood, serving up soft drinks and spring water; thanks to Judith and Harry Browne for this new attraction. Adults enjoyed the good company of their neighbors and food by Atria's. Don Watts was the lucky winner of a lucrative 50/50 raffle. For those who like to plan early, next year's Block Party is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 12.
